Frequently Asked Questions

Find the answers to the most commonly asked questions about the lottery.

What is the Royal Voluntary Service Weekly Lottery?

The Royal Voluntary Service Weekly Lottery is a draw which takes place every week on a Friday.

Each ticket number (issued by Unity Lottery when you sign up) you purchase gives you the chance to win a cash prize up to £25,000.

You can purchase up to 20 numbers per draw for £1 each, giving you even more chances to win a number of great prizes.

Any prizes you win are issued and posted directly to you; there’s no need for you to claim.

You can cancel at any time if you don’t want to remain in the draw.

Can I choose my own number?

No. Your unique lottery numbers are chosen randomly and will be your numbers for the duration of your membership of our lottery. When you enter the lottery, you will be sent confirmation of your unique numbers in your welcome letter.

How old must I be to enter?

The minimum age to enter the Royal Voluntary Service Weekly Lottery is 18.

What can I win?

Every week, you can win the following prizes:

  • Five additional entries into the next draw with a 3-digit match.
  • £25 with a 4-digit match.
  • £1,000 with a 5-digit match.
  • £25,000 jackpot with a 6-digit match.

How much does Royal Voluntary Service receive from each £1 entry?

From each £1 entry, Royal Voluntary Service receive a minimum of 50p (50%).

The remaining 18.4% is used to cover the lottery prize fund and 31.6% on administration costs.

When paying by Direct Debit, why is the price £4.34?

The monthly cost breakdown of £4.34 for playing the lottery is based on paying £1 per week over a 52 week year. As Direct Debits are only collected once monthly, sometimes there will be five weeks in a month and the additional £0.34p is to build up credit to cover the fifth week on the five-week months

How will I know if I’ve won?

The draw takes place every Friday. Once it has taken place, winners are notified by post or email, and all the winning numbers are published on our website, here.

If you match 4 digits or more, you will be sent your winnings automatically, either directly into your bank (if playing by Direct Debit), or via a cheque sent in the post.

If you match 3 digits you will be sent an email to confirm your win and your temporary 5 prize entry lottery numbers for the following week's draw.

I've lost my lottery numbers. What should I do?

Don’t worry, we have a record of your number/s. If you’d like us to re-send them, call the Royal Voluntary Service Weekly Lottery helpline on 0330 123 3208 or email info@unitylottery.co.uk.
